THREE THINGS I LOVE - A BLANK CANVAS, A JAR FULL OF BRUSHES
AND A QUIET AFTERNOON SPENT PAINTING...
Three Palms
The story behind
Guardian of Aqua Canyon.
For nearly 10 years, my husband and I photographed a mated pair of ravens that frequented Aqua Point in Bryce Canyon NP. They were quite the photo hams and we looked forward to seeing them on each visit. Sadly, on our last trip, there was only the male. I took a photo of him wistfully looking out over the canyon to the Vermillion Cliffs in the distance. That photo, shown below, inspired the painting.

This collection of six paintings is based on the Navajo legend of the sun father.
All paintings are 20 x 24 Oil on Canvas and Gallery Framed
Artist Note: I have always believed in giving back. Both Mulligan I and II were expressly created for donation to an annual benefit golf tournament. They were offered at auction, and the proceeds went to support the Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Matted prints are available.
A "mulligan" by the way, is a golfing term for an unplayable shot. Have you found the golf ball in the paintings yet?

"I credit my Mother with fostering my painting. An artist herself, she encouraged my early interest in drawing; providing me with crayons and watercolors, colored pencils and oils, as well as appropriate paper and canvas so I would keep my creations off her walls. My deep love of animals led to sketching them, and my enjoyment of the out-of-doors prompted me to try to recreate nature's beauty through my art."
"While in high school, an art teacher entered one of my classroom projects in a student exhibition at Carnegie Mellon University. My work won Best of Show, more exhibitions, art shows and fine art study followed, and a career was launched. I work primarily in oils, but occasionally delve into pastels, watercolors and mixed media."
"I paint a variety of subjects, but nature and wildlife, as well as Native American lore, continue to inspire the majority of my work. My Horses of the Sun are based on a Navajo legend. I am currently working on a series of wildlife paintings for exhibition in Wyoming."
